Is Juicing Better For West Palm Beach Kids?

Is Juicing Better For West Palm Beach Kids?

West Palm Beach health trends come and go and I have recently noticed that the practice of juicing fruits and vegetables has made its way back into the Florida children’s nutrition spotlight.

In my experience, I have found that the only West Palm Beach parents who have been successful at making their own super-healthy juices over the long term are West Palm Beach vegetarians who dedicate a lot of daily time to preparing their food.

Most West Palm Beach people who buy an expensive juicer use it for a few weeks before it is relegated to the back shelf of the pantry. Though juicing provides a way to improve your children’s nutrition, it can be time-consuming and expensive. After buying fresh fruits and vegetables, it can cost several dollars to make one glass. Of course, if you have ever tasted fruit and vegetable juices made fresh, you know how delicious they are. For many West Palm Beach parents, this is worth every minute and every dollar spent.

Does juicing provide more nutrition than eating whole fruits and vegetables?

I haven’t come across any convincing evidence of this but I do see the value for West Palm Beach parents whose kids enjoy drinking juice more than eating whole fruits and vegetable. Mixing vegetables with sweet fruits in a juice can disguise their taste and make them more palatable than the same vegetables raw or cooked.

West Palm Beach parents who would like to start juicing should keep in mind the fact that juicing usually removes all the fiber from the fruits and veggies used. A glass of fresh juice also contains a lot of calories!

Green Veggies Boost Immunity For West Palm Beach Kids

Green Veggies Boost Immunity For West Palm Beach Kids

Do your children catch every cold that goes around West Palm Beach? Do they regularly have earaches, coughs, or runny noses? Including more green vegetables in their diets could boost kids’ immune systems and help them stay healthy, according to a study in the journal Cell.1

The study found that green vegetables help produce a chemical that is important for a strong immune system. The chemical provides signals to the immune cells in the gut and skin, helping them to function properly.

If your West Palm Beach kids are like mine, convincing them to eat more green vegetables is as hard as getting them to clean their rooms. However, West Palm Beach parents can find sneaky ways to add more green vegetables to their children’s diets.

My kids love pasta and sauce so I puree spinach into the pasta sauce, disguising the leafy green immune booster. Adding kale to protein smoothies is another way to sneak green vegetables into their tummies.

My name is Douglas Mollo and I want to improve children’s health in West Palm Beach and around Florida. I also promote Cookies. If you would like more information about Cookies or children’s health issues contact me today!

West Palm Beach Children’s Heart Disease Risk

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

West Palm Beach Children's Heart Disease Risk

A growing number of Florida children are developing high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and type 2 diabetes which are all risk factors for heart disease. According to the American Heart Association, there is credible evidence that cholesterol buildup in arteries begins in childhood.

A recent Australian study claims that lifestyle changes made before adulthood, such as healthy eating habits, exercise, and weight management are likely to reduce the risk for heart disease later in life.

The three main risk factors for West Palm Beach children in developing high cholesterol are heredity, diet, and obesity. Visit with your West Palm Beach doctor to have your own cholesterol checked to make sure your kids aren’t at risk.

When shopping at your West Palm Beach grocery store, stock up on healthy snacks like nuts, dried fruit, and yogurt. Helping West Palm Beach kids and Wellington make healthy lifestyle choices now prepares them to have healthy lifestyles as adults.

As a health and wellness business owner and West Palm Beach children’s advocate, I would love to share more information about children’s nutrition and healthy snacking. Please call or email me today.

Why West Palm Beach Needs More Fiber

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

West Palm Beach Weight-Loss Shake Folks in West Palm Beach may only think about fiber when they are feeling constipated. Keeping you regular is one of the benefits of a high-fiber diet, but not the only one.

Fiber is important for heart health. West Palm Beach area people who eat a high-fiber diet are less likely to have high cholesterol levels. Numerous studies have shown the link between fiber and LDL levels. Check out the Nutrition Journal for information on one of the studies.

An increase in fiber consumption can help DelRay folks who want to lose weight. Wellington high-fiber meals have lower calorie-volume ratios; in other words, a high-fiber meal is more satisfying and you feel full longer. The Mayo Clinic says dietary fiber is essential for a healthy diet.

Wellington and Jupiter diabetics can benefit from a high-fiber diet according to the Mayo Clinic article; fiber can slow the absorption of sugar, which can improve blood sugar levels.

The majority of West Palm Beach people do not get enough fiber in their diets. Highly-processed white flour products, convenience foods and fast food meals have very little fiber. It takes time and effort to locate and purchase DelRay fiber rich foods.

The American Dietetic Association reports that most of us don’t even come close to the recommended intake of 20 grams to 35 grams of fiber a day.

The Xocai X Protein Meal Shake and Activ Beverage are two delicious sources of fiber. The Xocai X Protein Meal Shake has 8 grams of fiber per serving. Xocai Activ provides 28 percent of the daily recommended value for dietary fiber.

To learn more about these nutritional Xocai weight-loss chocolate products, call me at 561-662-8420. I am a Xocai Business Coach based in West Palm Beach.

I recommend Xocai because: allows me the freedom of running my own business while helping others.

Earth-Friendly and Hip-Friendly Chocolate Here In West Palm Beach?

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Health Chocolate When it comes to eco-responsibility, many Wellington companies talk the talk, but do they really walk the walk? I can’t speak for all West Palm Beach health supplement businesses, but I can tell you about MXI, the makers of Xocai healthy chocolate.

The business practices of MXI are beneficial to both the people involved and the land which they inhabit. Cacao, the principal ingredient in Xocai antioxidant chocolate is 100 percent ethically traded. Xocai buys cacao beans from small family-owned farms in Ivory Coast. The cacao farmers earn a fair wage and work in humane conditions. Xocai cacao growers do not use agricultural pesticides and their farming practices are environmentally sustainable.

The other main natural ingredient used to make Xocai dark chocolate is the acai berry. MXI purchases freeze-dried acai berries from cooperative farms in the Amazon rainforest. The Acai Palm is a low-maintenance rainforest tree. Unfortunately, in the past few generations, many Acai Palms have been cut down to clear the land for cattle pastures. The recent increase in global acai demand is now promoting the preservation of the Acai Palm. Local farmers have started planting new Acai Palms on their property to increase their acai harvest. As MXI continues to purchase greater quantities of freeze-dried acai pulp, rainforest economies are reaping the benefits.

In summary, here are some additional reasons to enjoy Xocai:

  • Ivory Coast cacao growers expanding their farms and increasing their profits from health chocolate.
  • South America acai growers reversing deforestation while profiting from an indigenous, sustainable crop.
  • Xocai can provide a steady income stream for your household economy!

Make The Most Out Of Story Time In West Palm Beach

Make The Most Out Of Story Time In West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach parents know that reading with children is essential to their academic success and development, but not all storybook sessions are as productive as others in building literacy skills. DelRay, Jupiter, and Wellington parents don’t need to worry, because a few simple guidelines can help your kids get the most from story time.

Instead of zooming through one picture book after another, take time to pause and allow your child to process the story.

Ask questions like, ‘What do you think will happen next?’ or ‘How did that make [the main character] feel?’ Enjoy the artwork and see what your child can infer from the pictures.

Beginning readers can point to each word as you read together. This will help them recognize that letters make up words and words make up sentences and they will get used to punctuation conventions.

West Palm Beach parents may have to work to curb their boredom since kids love repetition and may ask for the same book over and over again. This is normal and healthy for younger kids, but if you have any concerns about their development, you should consult your West Palm Beach pediatrician.

As kids get older you can ask more probing questions such as, ‘What was the most interesting part of the book?’ or ‘What is the setting of the story?’ There are also great opportunities for discussions about problems and solutions as well as themes and morals in almost all stories.

I’m Douglas Mollo and children’s health and development is very important to me. I am the owner of a West Palm Beach home business that sells Cookies. If you are interested in learning more, visit my website at or give me a call at 561-662-8420.

Honey – Natural Remedy For Kid’s Coughs In West Palm Beach

Honey Natural Remedy For Kids Coughs In West Palm Beach

Does your West Palm Beach child wake himself up repeatedly each night because of a bad cough? Upper respiratory infections can make sleeping very difficult for kids.

It turns out that Mother Nature’s sweetest treat may also help Florida children enjoy more zzzz’s each night. Buckwheat honey has been found to be a more effective remedy for children’s coughs than dextromethorphan (DM), the ingredient in common over-the-counter cough medicine.

A study published in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine concluded that honey gave children more relief from upper respiratory symptoms than DM or no treatment.1

Thanks to Florida bees we have a safe and effective cough remedy for children over one. Remember to never give infants honey because of the risk of infantile botulism.

My name is Douglas Mollo and I sell Nuggets in the West Palm Beach area. I am also an advocate for children’s health and nutrition in Florida. Contact me today for more information about Nuggets or Cookies.
