West Palm Beach Mega-Meals: Don’t Eat The Whole Thing!

West Palm Beach Mega-Meals: Don't Eat The Whole Thing!

It’s no wonder that many West Palm Beach children and teens struggle with weight issues. What is considered a ‘normal’ food portion has been getting bigger and bigger. In some cases, as with gargantuan West Palm Beach fast food soft drinks and West Palm Beach Costco muffins-on-steroids, it is absolutely ridiculous. And extremely unhealthy.

The findings from three large national surveys demonstrate:

‘Hamburgers have expanded by 23 percent; a plate of Mexican food is 27 percent bigger; soft drinks have increased in size by 52 percent, snacks, whether they be potato chips, pretzels or crackers, are 60 percent larger.’1

West Palm Beach restaurants and West Palm Beach food and beverage manufacturers are not the only ones sabotaging our children. Portion sizes have increased in homes, also.

If West Palm Beach parents are going to help their children maintain a healthy weight, learning proper portion sizes is critical. If we don’t know the size of a healthy portion, how can we teach our children?

The Mayo Clinic website has a great slide show that helps West Palm Beach parents and other children’s health advocates understand what ‘4 ounces’ or a ‘half cup’ actually looks like. You can see it here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/portion-control/NU00267

Keep Your West Palm Beach Kids Fit

Friday, November 25th, 2011

Keep Your West Palm Beach Kids Fit An important element in any Florida child’s health is physical activity. Most young West Palm Beach children are busy exploring their world and don’t need any encouragement to run, skip, or jump. But spontaneous activities like these may decline during the tween years when most Wellington children begin spending more time on indoor activities like TV watching, video game playing, and texting.

As West Palm Beach parents we need to be more proactive during these years to make sure our kids are physically fit. Helping them choose a popular West Palm Beach sport such as soccer, baseball, or skiing is an excellent way to encourage activity.

Provide active toys such as jump ropes, hula hoops, bikes, and roller blades and limit sedentary activities like movie watching.

Model the physically active behavior you want your West Palm Beach child to have. Take walks with your kids. Take advantage of West Palm Beach recreational options. Go snow boarding, swimming, or hiking with them to show them that being active and fit is important to you.

Active Wellington kids need healthy between-meal snacks such as dried fruit, nuts, string cheese, and protein bars. As a child’s health advocate in Florida, I would love to share one of my favorite super-nutritious snacks with you. Please contact me today!

West Palm Beach Acai Berry Chocolate

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

New Hot Business in West Palm Beach Hello, you’ve found the blog for the West Palm Beach new hot business Xocai healthy dark chocolate.

Previous Xocai blog articles have talked at length about cold-processed cacao, the key ingredient in Xocai weight-loss chocolate. Today’s article focuses on another super food used in Xocai chocolates: the amazing berry acai.

Unlike berries grown around Wellington and Jupiter, the ace berry is native to the Amazon rain forest and, unfortunately, is highly perishable. In fact, acai berries go bad within one day of being picked. Therefore, it is nearly impossible to buy acai berry juice for daily consumption.

Luckily, freeze-dried acai berry powder retains all the nutrients of fresh acai pulp and can be shipped to West Palm Beach without harm.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone, MD, FACN touted the acai berry and its health and skin benefits on Oprah several years ago. He said the acai berry is ‘one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world!’ The following information taken from Dr. Perricone’s acai berry recommendation is found on Oprah’s website. Dr. Perricone listed the following about the acai berry:

  • A remarkable concentration of antioxidants that help combat premature aging, with 10 times more antioxidants than red grapes and 10 to 30 times the anthocyanins of red wine.
  • A synergy of monounsaturated (healthy) fats, dietary fiber and phytosterols to help promote cardiovascular and digestive health.
  • An almost perfect essential amino acid complex in conjunction with valuable trace minerals, vital to proper muscle contraction and regeneration.

Dr. Perricone, MD, FACN, is known as the Father of the Inflammation Theory of Aging and a clinical and research dermatologist.

Easy First Bike For West Palm Beach Kids

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Easy First Bike For West Palm Beach Kids There’s a new way for West Palm Beach kids to learn how to ride a bike. At first glance, balance or no-pedal bikes look just like any other kid’s bike. Look closer, however, and you notice that they are missing something: pedals.

In my West Palm Beach neighborhood cul-de-sac, I have seen toddlers as young as two hop on these bikes, scoot around for a few minutes and in no time at all, they are balancing like a pro. West Palm Beach balance bike sellers say that when a child is ready for the real thing, no training wheels are required.

If you are interested in getting a no-pedal bike for your child, don’t buy a size up. Both of your child’s feet should be firmly planted on the ground when he or she is sitting on the seat.

I promote children’s health and fitness in West Palm Beach and sell a nutritional product that many West Palm Beach families enjoy. To learn about the top children’s nutrition pick of the year, call or email me today.

How To Cite Sources On Your West Palm Beach Home Business Blog

Friday, November 11th, 2011

How To Cite Sources On Your West Palm Beach Home Business Blog I mentor several West Palm Beach entrepreneurs who have online home business blogs. Some of these home business owners are new to the online marketplace and are learning the principles of small business blogging. Today’s West Palm Beach article explains how to cite third-party information in your home business blog.

Generally, it is permissible to include third-party information as long as you include a source reference. For example, if I wanted to include an excerpt from an article about a Cookies research study, I would cite the name of the article, the journal, the author, and the date. If I accessed it from a website, I would include that also.

Here is an example from webmd.com. The article: ‘Dark Chocolate Takes a Bite Out of Stress’ by Jennifer Warner is about a study conducted at the Nestle Research Center in Lausanne Switzerland. At the end of the article, the following paragraph is included: ‘The study appears in the Journal of Proteome Research and was conducted by researchers at the Nestle Research Center in Lausanne, Switzerland.’

Qualityhealth.com included an article by Tabby Biddle that also cites the Swiss study and several others. They cited their sources at the end of the article in the following format:

American Chemical Society. New evidence that dark chocolate helps ease emotional stress. ScienceDaily. http://www.sciencedaily.com  /releases/2009/11/091111123612.htm. Accessed Dec. 7, 2009.

If you want to include material that is licensed, follow the appropriate procedure to obtain permission outlined by the owners of the content. Then be sure to let your readers know that you have permission by saying: ‘Reprinted by permission of so-and-so.’ West Palm Beach home business bloggers who reprint information without permission damage their credibility and run the risk of legal action.

I am West Palm Beach entrepreneur coach Douglas Mollo. I own a Cookies business based in my West Palm Beach home. I advise new West Palm Beach Cookies home business owners on sales, marketing, and recruiting.

X Protein Meal Replacement Shake

Friday, November 4th, 2011

Wellington Weight-Loss Chocolate Back in the day, most West Palm Beach diets were all about limiting calories. You’ve heard the equation: burn more than you consume. The West Palm Beach medical community now has much more knowledge about the roles of protein, antioxidants, and carbohydrates in weight-loss.

MXI has developed an effective weight-loss protocol around the Xocai X Protein Meal Replacement Shake.

If you love chocolate shakes, this may be the West Palm Beach weight-loss plan that will work for you. In the initial Xocai pilot study of the chocolate shake diet, participants replaced two meals a day with the Xocai Chocolate Shake.

For their ‘real meal’ the participants were instructed to eat a normal, well-balanced meal. The two meal replacement shakes contain all the protein, vitamins and antioxidants you need for the entire day. And, don’t forget, it contains Xocai dark chocolate. The chocolate dieters reported that they had energy, never felt hungry, and, best of all–they lost weight! The first Xocai Weight Loss Trial was an overwhelming success.

Here are some comments from the chocolate diet participants (as reported in the Winter 2011 issue of Prosper Magazine):

“I never felt deprived or grumpy. I felt energy, strength, motivation. I feel healthy!”

“The past 12 weeks have been an emotional journey for me, but I have made a lifestyle change for myself! I know that I will be fit for life with the help of the X Protein Wellness System.”

“The shake allowed me to stay within the guidelines of a healthy eating plan. In 11 weeks, I have lost 47 pounds.”

Some of the dieters lost 30 pounds or more. Have you ever thought of chocolate as a West Palm Beach diet food? The Xocai antioxidant chocolate shake is not a dessert. It has been carefully formulated to nourish your body and help you lose weight. When you have reached your goal weight, you can use the Xocai Meal Replacement Shake to maintain your new svelte self.

Healthy Snacks For Happy Studying In West Palm Beach

Healthy Snacks For Happy Studying In West Palm Beach

Welcome to my West Palm Beach children’s health blog. My fifth grader’s elementary teacher recently sent home a note encouraging good homework habits for all of her West Palm Beach students. The note included this suggestion: ‘Eat a healthy snack before sitting down to study.’

My kids and I sat down to brainstorm some healthy snacks they could eat before beginning their homework each afternoon. After compiling our list we headed to our favorite West Palm Beach grocery store to stock up on after-school snacks.

Here are my kids top ten healthy homework snacks!

Frozen grapes (or other favorite fruit)
String cheese
Fruit leather
Dried apricots
Nuts
Hummus with veggies
Yogurt
Celery dipped in peanut butter
Fruit smoothies
Popcorn

West Palm Beach kids can focus better when they have healthy snacks handy. Another important thing to remember is that kids are more likely to eat healthy snacks if they can choose their favorites. I am a local Nuggets representative and an advocate for children’s health in Florida. To learn more about healthy snacking, contact me today at 561-662-8420 or Doug@dougmollo.com.
